Five Infinitum announces a 45 MW Data Center in Sant Adrià de Besòs, deepening its presence in Barcelona

Barcelona, July 2025, Five Infinitum is pleased to announce the formal commencement of its third digital infrastructure project in Spain: FI_BCN_02, the company’s second development within Barcelona province. This data center reinforces our strategy as a pan-European platform delivering urban, connected, and sustainable digital infrastructure.

The site is located in Sant Adrià de Besòs, within the northern Barcelona urban corridor, and is situated close to submarine cable landing stations, offering strategic international connectivity.

FI_BCN_02 has secured both land and power. The facility will be built on a 33,000 sqm site, with 30 MW of initial electrical capacity and expandable up to 45 MW, placing it among the region’s most competitive data center projects.

Permitting is currently underway, with construction expected to begin in Q4 2026 and operations targeted for Q3 2028.

Strategic positioning and corporate vision

With FI_BCN_02, Five Infinitum solidifies its presence in Barcelona as a central pillar of its Iberian strategy. This is the company’s second project in Barcelona—following FI_BCN_01—and third in Spain, strengthening its role in the market of high-capacity urban data centers.

Sant Adrià’s selection reflects its scalability and connectivity potential: the city has proven itself as an international digital infrastructure hub in recent years, attracting major industry players. Five Infinitum firmly bets on the Barcelona ecosystem as a global data center platform.

Local workforce, sustainable design, and operational efficiency

Barcelona data center professionals monitoring servers in a high-tech facility, ensuring sustainable and secure digital infrastructure.

FI_BCN_02 will become a catalyst for regional development, creating direct and indirect jobs during construction, prioritizing local hiring and engaging with nearby suppliers.

Once operational, the facility will be staffed by skilled professionals specializing in engineering, critical operations, and cybersecurity, providing long-term, high-value job opportunities.

The data center is designed with maximum sustainability in mind: it will operate on 100% renewable energy, implement top-tier energy efficiency practices (optimized PUE), and importantly, will not use water for ongoing cooling, minimizing its environmental footprint.

Pan‑European growth with urban and interconnected infrastructure

Following FI_BCN_01 in Barcelona and FI_BBO_01 in Bilbao, FI_BCN_02 marks the third cornerstone in Five Infinitum’s European expansion path, focusing on urban, connected, scalable, and environmentally conscious data centers.

These facilities are designed to meet next-generation demand from AI workloads, sovereign cloud, edge computing, and low-latency connectivity, contributing to Europe’s digital infrastructure growth.

With FI_BCN_02, Five Infinitum reinforces its role as a pan‑European platform committed to efficient design, urban integration, and sustainable growth.
