Barcelona, July 2025, Five Infinitum is proud to announce the official launch of FI_BCN_01, its first large-scale data center development in Spain. This project marks a major milestone in the company’s strategy to deliver high-capacity, sustainable infrastructure in key European urban locations.
FI_BCN_01 will be located in the northern Barcelona technology corridor, a fast-growing digital ecosystem combining advanced connectivity, business clusters, and critical infrastructure.
The project will offer 35,000 sqm of buildable space, across two plots of 18,000 sqm and 17,000 sqm. It has already secured 20 MW of electrical capacity, with scalable potential up to 40 MW, making it one of the most ambitious data center developments in the region.
Currently in the environmental and construction permitting phase, FI_BCN_01 is expected to begin construction in Q3 2026, with operations scheduled to start in Q2 2028.
Responsible growth, skilled employment, and community engagement
FI_BCN_01 will generate hundreds of direct and indirect jobs during construction, with a strong commitment to local hiring and regional supplier integration.
Once operational, the facility will host a team of highly skilled professionals in engineering, operations, and cybersecurity, providing stable, long-term employment in a critical sector.
Aligned with its sustainability strategy, Five Infinitum will ensure the use of renewable energy, industry-leading energy efficiency standards (optimized PUE), and environmentally conscious construction. Notably, the design of FI_BCN_01 excludes any recurrent water consumption for cooling, helping preserve local water resources. The company also aims to collaborate with academic and technological institutions to support the development of local digital talent.
A pan-European vision for digital infrastructure
FI_BCN_01 is the first of several projects that Five Infinitum is preparing across Europe, designed to meet growing demand for AI workloads, sovereign cloud, edge computing, and low-latency interconnectivity.
With this announcement, Five Infinitum takes a firm step toward becoming a pan-European platform for sustainable, connected, and urban data centers.
